Description

For this year’s fall production, Theatrix is teaming up with S.U.C.C.E.S.S., The Port Moody Heritage Museum, and DiverseCity to create a meaningful play that addresses the issue of racism in Canada through an allegorical story. Cast members will create an all-new musical around Elizabeth Hoffletop, a human girl and her family who move to Obelopolis: The World’s Happiest Monster Metropolis. Can Elizabeth and her family find happiness in a society that wasn’t designed for humans like them?

This play will transform real life stories from BIPOC members of our community into a play that both entertains and educates.

In order to adhere to health guidelines we will be rehearsing with only small groups at a time, and sections of the play will be recorded in order to limit the number of live actors needed at performances. Performances can be booked by school cohorts and community groups for December, at no cost.

Note: As health guidelines continue to change over the next few months it is possible that the entire play will need to be recorded and that performances may be virtual only.
